Ghana has several stadiums, but the largest and most popular one is the Accra Sports Stadium, also known as Ohene Djan Stadium. The stadium has a capacity of 40,000 people, making it one of the largest in the country. It was built in 1952 and has hosted numerous football matches, local and international, as well as other sporting events such as boxing, basketball, and athletics.
In 2001, the stadium was named after Ohene Djan, the first Director of Sports of Ghana, in recognition of his contributions to the development of sports in the country. The stadium underwent major renovations in 2006, which included improvements to the seating, lighting and sound systems, and the construction of new dressing rooms and offices.
The Accra Sports Stadium is the home ground of the Ghana national football team, as well as local teams such as Accra Hearts of Oak and Great Olympics. It has also hosted several African Cup of Nations matches, including the final in 2008. The stadium is an important landmark in Accra and a popular venue for concerts and other events.
